Welcome
It is my pleasure to introduce you to Kingston Educational Trust (KET), an educational
charity founded in 2012 by three prominent local civic institutions: Kingston University, Kingston College and the Royal Borough of Kingston.
Our heritage has meant that from the outset we benefited from an experienced and knowledgeable leadership base, with a trust board including seasoned educational professionals. In addition, our partnership with our members provides us with genuine differentiation from other local secondary schools with access to a range of opportunities from art exhibitions in the College gallery, school productions in the college theatre, joint projects with Design and Engineering students and university immersion days.
KET initially established The Kingston Academy, a new non-selective free secondary school, serving its local community in north Kingston. The school opened with its first Year 7 intake in September 2015 and the Sixth Form welcomed its first Year 12 students in September 2020.
In January 2022 KET converted to a multi academy trust and was delighted to welcome Fern Hill Primary School, located next door to The Kingston Academy, into the trust.
As a growing trust, we have high aspirations for all and are committed to inclusion across our schools. We are continually looking for the marginal gains that can be achieved by adapting existing practices and have made the most of the power of new technology in the classroom.
We maintain an absolute focus on the academic progress and personal development of all of our pupils. Our ability to deliver consistently excellent teaching and a compelling pupil experience in the classroom and beyond is our daily mission. Every detail of the architecture of our schools flows from this central focus on pupil progress and equipping them for the future beyond the school walls. We also set great store on very high standards of behaviour in school and have established orderly, calm and supportive learning environments.
We have been able to capitalise on the operational benefits that larger scale conveys. A combined central services team has been set up to oversee all matters relating to finance, HR, IT, facilities management, catering and administration across the trust. We have been working hard in focusing and streamlining our processes, adopting a consistent approach that can be easily adapted as we continue to grow. We have also centralised purchasing across the two schools, with a view to cultivating very strong supplier relationships and achieving economies in scale.

Kingston Educational Trust is an educational charity created through an alliance between Kingston College, Kingston University and the Royal Borough of Kingston. The Trust established a new free school, The Kingston Academy, which opened in September 2015.
In January 2022 Kingston Educational Trust converted to a Multi Academy Trust and Fern Hill Primary school converted to an academy status and joined the Trust.
Kingston Educational Trust’s three partners have substantial and successful experience of the strategic leadership of educational institutions. Membership of an expanded educational community provides advantages and increased opportunities for our schools and their pupils.
